How To Transition Boho Outfits From Summer to Winter

Updated: Jun 6, 2022

Summer is the boho lovers dream: there are so many gorgeous dresses, sandals, and hats to adorn. The sun is hot, and the patterns are bright.

However, outside of Summer, boho fashion can become more challenging to wear. The dresses are too cold, and sandals... No chance!

So, how do you transition your outfits to be suited for the cold winters?

Step 1: Embrace knits and layering.

Knits are the first step for Winter clothing. It can be freezing, and layering is the absolute best solution to the problem of thin dresses. There are so many gorgeous knits to choose from, and there are some really cute affordable options! However, I always recommend wearing clothes that are sustainable and ethically made. Here are some options I think look amazing over a boho dress or skirt.

Neo Nomads

$289.00

Style tip: I love the colour and the loose fit of this sweatshirt! I can definitely see it partnered with light wash jeans, some cute booties and a fantastic hat.

Tigerlily

$159.00

Style tip: I love the length of this sweater! It is perfect to show off your beautiful patterns on skirts or dresses. The tassels add a lovely detail that make your outfit go from gorgeous, to WOW!

Pro tip: Neutral colours always work best for layering and sweaters. My favourites include camel, white and black for basics. Bonus points if you support a small business!

Step 2: Tights are always right.

Tights are a great way to keep warm in the colder days, while still showing off some legs! If you're anything like me, your legs get cold sooner than your top! While there are jumpers to keep your top warm, normally legs get forgotten.

Tights are a great way to keep your looks classy, without being bulky. There are some great tights on the market, that look see through but are actually superrr thick.

Uniqlo

$19.90

Style tip: Using bright colours can transform your outfit from looking basic, to fabulous! Try some bold colours with neutral tones to keep the boho look, with a bit extra!

Step 3: Swap the hat for the beanie

Hats are always so fashionable and chic! If a hat is too cold for you in the Winter, you can swap with an equally gorgeous beanie.

There are so many amazing styles available online that can suit any boho look!

Etsy

$38.00

Style tip: Just because you are wearing a beanie, doesn't mean you can forget about your hair! Having your hair down, or with a few pieces in the front makes a huge difference.
